Naby Keita has offered Liverpool a major injury boost, following his return to training at the club's Melwood training ground.
The Guinea international has been missing from the squad since aggravating an injury he carried from last season, just before the Reds' UEFA Super Cup clash against Chelsea in September.
Coach Jurgen Klopp, who spoke ahead of the Stamford Bridge tie, indicated further that goalkeeper Allison Becker and Divock Origi are making positive progress.
“Naby Keita is back in training with the team. Today is first time with the team. Alisson is making big progress. A proper session yesterday with John Achterberg," he said.
“Not in team training yet, and we take it day by day. We will see. Too early to say. The medical department will tell me.
Klopp, however, indicated it was unlikely that Origi will be ready for the Sunday game.
Liverpool have won all their five fixtures in the current campaign and sit atop the English Premier League table on 15 points, five clear of second-placed Manchester City.
This will be their biggest test yet in the current campaign and will be keen on picking three points against one of their top rivals.
Both teams lost in midweek in the Champions League and will be fighting to steady their ship with a win.
