Fashion Sakala on target in Oostende Cup win

Zambia national team striker Fashion Sakala came from the bench to score a goal and help KV Oostende progress to the second round of the Belgian Cup with a 2-0 win over Mandel United.

Oostende coach Kåre Hedley Ingebrigtsen made changes to his squad and rested key players like Fashion Sakala and Vargas. Despite the changes, the Kust Boys started strong controlling the match at the almost sold out Skyline Arena in Izegem.

The visitors took the lead just ten minutes into the match after a Mandel defender handled the ball in the box and Nicolas Rajsel stepped and flawlessly converted the penalty, 0-1. KVO had chances to increase the lead but the Mandel goalkeeper Laleman was in top form and made sure it went to the break level.

In the second half, Mandel tried to push for an equalizer but Fabrice Ondoa in the KV Oostende goal was up to the task. Sakala came from the bench to seal the result with a 90th-minute close-range strike.

Zambian midfielder Emmanuel Banda who made the matchday squad for the first time this season was an unused substitute.
