After being incessantly linked with a move out of Tottenham Hotspur, Victor Wanyama has refused to comment on the speculations, instead channeling his focus to get the team back on track.
Spurs have had a torrid start to the season, winning just three games in all competitions and sit ninth in the league standings with 11 points. Wanyama was linked with a move to Club Brugge in the summer transfer window but the move failed to materialize.
Despite his contract running out in the summer of 2021, Wanyama was named alongside Christian Eriksen, Danny Rose, and Serge Aurier to be part of the Spurs clearout in January. The arrival of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso has further pushed Wanyama below the pecking order at Spurs.
Speaking exclusively to futaa, Wanyama was asked about the rumors linking him with a move away from Spurs, "It's not the right time to speak about the speculations, it's actually unfair, we need to fight together as a team because of the bad times we are having. We will work hard and we will be back to our best."
Manager Mauricio Pochettino also hit out at Wanyama when asked about him back in August, "I am making clear the answer is not about Victor, but we are not a charity – it is about performance and the coaching staff have a lot of different options to play different players."
Spurs will be aiming to return to winning ways in their next clash against bottom-placed Watford on Saturday 19th October.
