Former England international and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has reportedly been handed an exclusive invite to the 2019 Fiji Football Awards Night in February 2020.
According to Football in Oceania, the main guest is yet to be confirmed but the Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel is said to be keen on having Owen come to the country.
The FIFA Legends Program makes it possible to have Owen feature - the same program saw former Arsenal defender Mikaël Silvestre visit Fiji earlier in the year for the 2018 Awards.
The Fiji FA also revealed that Owen would be conducting some football clinics and visiting academies during his visit and hoping his presence will bring some motivation.
“This year we had Mikaël Silvestre as the main guest during our annual awards function at the Sofitel Resort and next year we are getting ready to have Michael Owen,” Rajesh Patel told the FA’s website.
“We want to reward our hardworking players and officials in a bigger and better way every year and having legends of the sport present at the event surely adds more colour and encourages everyone to contribute more to football,” he said.
