Reports: Two Juventus stars who could join Massimo Allegri at Man United

Reports linking Massimo Allegri to Manchester United have picked pace this week, with some quarters indicating he is 'very close' to replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian is under immense pressure following a poor run of results in recent weeks, which have seen the Reds drop to 12th on the league table.

All eyes will be on the coach and his team when they welcome league leaders Liverpool on Sunday at Old Trafford, knowing another slip could only worsen the situation.

According to Tuttosport, the former Juventus boss has met Manchester United officials and will be ready to take over from Solskjaer.

Allegri is currently unattached following his exit from the Italian champions at the end of last season, even though earlier reports indicated he was to wait until the end of the season to take any other job.

The report also claims that the 52-year-old will bring two of his former stalwarts at the club in Emre Can and Mario Mandzukic, who have since fallen out of favour at the club.

The Croat is a target for the Old Trafford side, following the sale of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan in the summer.

Can, on the other hand, will be willing to move, having voiced his frustrations with being left out of the Champions League team by new manager Maurizio Sarri.
