Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed David de Gea and Paul Pogba will miss weekend's clash against Liverpool due to injuries.
De Gea suffered a groin injury while on international duty with Spain on Tuesday night as his side settled for a 1-1 draw with Sweden. On the other hand, Pogba has missed United's last seven matches due to ankle issues. The Frenchman has been working on his recuperation in Dubai during the international break but suffered a setback and Solskjaer says the duo will miss Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.
"David needs a scan. I think he'll be out. It certainly looked like it anyway judging on last night so it's just one of those things," he told Sky Sports.
"Paul had an injury, he came back, he worked really hard. He came back and played a couple of games, maybe played through the pain barrier."
"He had a scan after the Arsenal game and maybe needed a few weeks' rest in a boot so hopefully he won't be too long, but he won't make this game, no."
The Red Devils will be boosted by the return of Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka with the trio having resumed training.
"I can't tell you 100 percent [who] is going to be fit as something might happen. But hopefully, Aaron and Anthony will last the training this week and be available for selection. If it's for half a game or 30 minutes I don't know but let's see where they're at."
De Gea's absence will mean Sergio Romero will be in line to make his first league start of the season having only featured for United in the Europa League and Carabao Cup so far this season.
