Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian has insisted he will not give up his number one spot easily and will fight with Alisson Becker for the jersey.
Adrian has impressively stood in for the Brazilian, who suffered an injury in the opening match of the current campaign at home against Norwich City.
He has however returned from the long lay-off and is widely expected to start at Old Trafford on Sunday when Liverpool visit Manchester United.
Speaking ahead of the tie, the former West Ham man indicated Becker will not just walk into the starting berth between the posts and will have to 'go through' him.
“It’s a good decision for the manager because everyone wants to have the best and I think we are here - two No.1s.
“It’s not my mentality to be a No.2 and even less so when I am 32. Maybe in four, five years' time I will tell you differently but it’s much better than being in a comfort zone of one No.1 and the other [goalkeeper] sitting on the bench forever."
Adrian has surpassed expectations at the club and was instrumental as the Reds beat Chelsea twice; in the UEFA Super Cup and the English Premier League.
During his time, the club has won all eight of their opening Premier League fixtures, and are currently atop the standings.
