Arsenal can challenge for PL title, says David Luiz

Arsenal summer signing David Luiz believes his side is capable of challenging for the Premier League this season despite trailing leaders Liverpool by nine points.

Arsenal are currently third on the log with 15 points, one behind defending champions Manchester City after eight Premier League matches. Liverpool have already set the pace, opening seven-point lead following their 100% record start to the current campaign where they've won all their eight matches. Despite many saying the title will be between City and Liverpool, Luiz insists the Gunners have the players and coaching staff to ‘fight’ for the title.

"For me, if you start something, and we’ve just started the Premier League and all of the competitions, if you don’t think you can win the competition then you won’t start anything in your life," he told NBC Sports.

"I want to win titles with Arsenal. I want to improve and adapt myself for the style of Arsenal, as a club and how the manager wants us to play. I think we can do that together. My vision, my ambition, and my will is always to fight for the title and between the club, the players and the coach, we have the possibility to fight for the title. I think this club deserves to shine again."

Arsenal will take on Sheffield United on Monday Night in their ninth fixture of the PL starting from 10:00 PM EAT.
