Zambia U17 national team has been crowned champions of the 2019 COSAFA Men’s Under-17 Championship following a 2-0 victory over Mozambique in Sunday’s final at the Mira Stadium in Blantyre.
The Osward Mutapa tutored outfit continued their fine form in the tournament as they maintained their winning run thanks to goals from Rickson Ng'ambi and Joseph Banda yo claim a hard-fought 2-0 win and walk away with gold medals.
Zambia was reduced to 10 players 32 minutes to full-time when Peter Chikola who set up Joseph Banda's opener picked up his second yellow card of the match. Angola won bronze medals after a comprehensive 5-0 win over Eswatini in the third-place play-off.
Zambian forward Moses Mulenga was named Player of the Tournament, while his compatriot Iford Mwale won the Golden Glove as best goalkeeper thanks to his four clean sheets in five games.
Simon Cipriano (Mozambique), Domingos (Angola) and Rickson Ng’ambi shared the Golden Boot with five goals each.
Eswatini walked way with the Fair Play award.
