Uganda national team head coach Johnathan McKinstry was in the stands as the former went on to secure qualification to the 2020 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) after a 3-0 victory over Burundi.
McKinstry officially took over the reins of Uganda Cranes two weeks ago but he left Abdallah Mubiru and the rest of the technical staff to see the rest of the games through as they progressed in the qualifiers.
The Northern Irishman exclaimed that his side will need to have proper preparation ahead of the final tournament in Cameroon as quoted by Kawowo Sports.
Excellent effort from all the @UgandaCranes players, staff and supporters yesterday to secure qualification to @CAF_Online #CHAN2020.— Johnathan McKinstry (@johnnymckinstry) October 20, 2019
We must now ensure good preparation over the coming months to provide us with the platform to succeed in Cameroon.
It will be the fifth time that Uganda will play at the finals, however, the downside side is that they have never progressed past the group stages - perhaps 2020 maybe their year of destiny.
