Five crunch Champions League fixtures to look forward to this week

UEFA Champions League week-three action is set to resume this week, with a number of interesting fixtures set to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday, 22nd and 23rd October, across various grounds in Europe.

There are a number of mouth-watering fixtures on the menu, as top teams are set to light the competition's group stage.

We take a look at some of the key matches to look forward to;

Galatasaray v Real Madrid

Real Madrid are in a bit of crisis following recent struggles both at home and in Europe. The former champions will be hoping to steady their European ship after a disappointing campaign that started with a 3-0 loss away to PSG before another discouraging 2-2 draw against Club Brugge in their second match.

They face the Turkish side after yet another stumble in La Liga, this time going down 1-0 away to Real Mallorca.

Galatasaray will feel confident going into the fixture, having won two of their previous three meetings with the Liga side in Istanbul.

Tottenham v Crvena Zvezda

Mauricio Pochettino's side needs to get out of their slump soon, or else their season will collapse, entirely. They were hammered 7-1 at home by Bayern Munich last time out and will need a response at home to their Serbian opponents.

They are currently third on the table on a single point, same as Olympiacos, whom they drew 2-2 in the opening fixture.

Salzburg v Napoli

These two sides met in last season's Round of 16, with the Italian side winning the contest despite losing 3-1 in Austria.

Salzburg has been one of the most entertaining sides to watch and played out an entertaining 4-3 loss to Liverpool in Anfield last time out. They face a Napoli side that is yet to concede in the tournament.

Internazionale v Dortmund

Inter Milan find themselves at the bottom of Group F with Barcelona and Dortmund leading with four points each. The Italians need to get a win against the Germans, or else they'll be moving close to elimination with each passing match.

They have been exceptional in the Italian League and will need that form against a highly offensive German side.

Ajax v Chelsea

Ajax are riding high in Group H, having won their opening two matches. They host a Chelsea side that is slowly gaining momentum after early-season struggles.

The two sides are favorites to advance from the group, but a 1-0 home loss to the Blues against Valencia almost changed everything.

Ajax will know a win against one of their strongest challengers will almost guarantee them safe passage to the next round, while Frank Lampard's charges will be keen on avoiding another defeat.
