Ulinzi Stars ended Tusker's fine run in the Kenyan Premier League following a 1-0 win at Afraha Stadium on Saturday 26th.
Daniel Waweru scored the only goal in the second half to hand Ulinzi Stars a slim victory over visiting on form Tusker. Previously, Benjamin Nyangweso's men had gone for two matches without a win, registering two consecutive goalless draws against Western Stima and KCB.
Meanwhile, Tusker suffered their second defeat of the season, since losing their league opener to champions Gor Mahia.
Tusker saw much of the possession in the first ten minutes of the game but failed to beat Ulinzi's defense. First real chance of the game went Tusker’s way as Timothy Otieno got a one on one with keeper Timothy Odhiambo but the forward was denied with a brilliant save.
A chance for the hosts came after some minutes of play as Daniel Waweru delivered a beautiful corner into the box. Andai rose high but his headers narrowly missed the target.
In the second half, Ulinzi were ahead, thanks to Waweru's screamer. He met the ball about 40 yards out and smashed it home past Mvuyekure to gift the Soldiers a lead in the 57th minute.
Ulinzi will now put their focus on AFC Leopards in their next KPL match while Tusker will be home against Nzoia.
