Chris Smalling is expected to return to Manchester United once his Roma loan in Italy comes to an end.
As reported by Sky Sports, Smalling remains a United player and expected to head back to Old Trafford following his loan spell with Roma. The England international agreed to spend the rest of the season in the Italian capital and despite speculation, well-placed sources report there have been no talks between Manchester United and Roma to make Smalling's move permanent.
The 29-year-old has played six games for Roma, who've conceded just two goals in his last four league appearances, a run that's seen them climb to 5th spot in Serie A.
According to reports, the club's head of development John Murtough met with Roma last week on Friday but the meeting was to check on the defender's progress.
