Napoli head coach Carlo Ancelotti says his team is targeting to seal their qualification to the group stage this evening when they host Redbull Salzburg in a Group E UEFA Champions League matchday four encounter.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss believes the result his team wants to get today is what's most important today for his side nothing else.
“We want to achieve an important milestone and qualify for the Round of 16. That’s the news of the day for me. I don’t agree with the training camp but it’s a legitimate decision that the club has thought carefully about. That’s not the priority, though – you can spend all week in a training camp but the most important thing right now is the result we want to get tomorrow (today), ” he said.
“We’ve lacked consistency. We’ve achieved very high levels of performance over the first few months, but we’ve not always been able to replicate those. I think the only really disappointing match that was a failure was the Roma game because our level of intensity was too low and we never had control of the game."
Defender Konstantinos Manolas feels the team must do better and must show the desire in every part of the match.
"We need to show more desire in every part of the game. We can and must do better. We have some great players," he said.
Napoli currently leads Group E with seven points and a win today will seal their qualification to the next round but they will have to be at their best tonight as they have failed to win any of their last three games. Kick-off for the match is set at 22:00hrs Central African time.
