Pep Guardiola lauds nine former Manchester United players

Pep Guardiola has rained praise down on nine Manchester United players that lost to his Barcelona side in the Champions League final back in 2009.

Guardiola then at Barcelona ran out 2-0 winners against United in the final staged at the Stadio Olimpico, with Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi getting on the scoresheet.

The Spanish manager managed to assemble one of the most formidable sides back then and won another Champions League crown against United in 2011.

In an interview with BT Sport's What I Wore, Guardiola hailed nine United players looking back at his career at Barcelona, "That was outrageous, it was outstanding.

"So you know Cristiano Ronaldo, [Carlos Tevez, [Dimitar] Berbatov, [Paul] Scholes, [Michael] Carrick, [Ryan] Giggs, [Rio] Ferdinand, [Nemanja] Vidic, [Edwin] Van der Sar. It was an incredible team.

"We had a lot of problems their with the back four. We had three injuries in the starting XI. But we [Barcelona] were full of confidence, we'd won the league and the cup and we did it."
