Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo alongside the Chile squad named for the friendly clash against Peru next week have been sent home after the match was called off.
Chile has been suffering from the effects of weeks of political protests and violent unrest with the players opting not to play the match.
Protests in Chile began last month in response to a rise in subway fares as well as high living costs and inequality in the country.
The Chilean FA confirmed the players had been told they were free to return to their clubs, "The players called up for the Chilean national team have decided not to play in the friendly against Peru, scheduled for next Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Lima. The decision was taken by the squad after a meeting held this morning."
It is estimated that more than 20 civilians have been killed since the unrest began and the violence is the worst the country has seen since 1990.
