Coach sacked in Italy after 27-0 win over opponents

Massimiliano Riccini was axed after he led his team, Invictasauro to a 27-0 win over Marina Calcio in an Italian under-18 match.

According to ESPN, Marina were dealing with a host of injury problems and had an outfield player in goal as a result.

Invictasauro led the table while Marina came into the match at the rear end of the standings with Tuscany based side running away with a 27-0 win.

According to a statement published by Football Italia, president of Invictasauro, Paolo Brogelli in a surprise move sacked Riccini for disrespecting the opponents, "We were stunned and deeply regretful when hearing that our Juniores team had beaten Marina Calcio 27-0.

"The values of youth team football are antithetical to such a thing. The opponent must always be respected and that did not happen today. As president, I sincerely apologize to the Marina club. I announce that our directors decided, unanimously, to sack coach Riccini."

It is reported that Marina sporting director Tiberio Pratesi lodged a complaint and later received a phone call from Invictasauro with an apology.
