Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr no doubt enjoyed the hospitality his team received in Lesotho and it reflected in their result.
Nigeria beat Lesotho 4-2 in the matchday 2 encounter of the 2021 AFCON qualifier played on Sunday.
A brace by Victor Osimhen and a goal each by Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze steered the Super Eagles to a 4-2 win over Lesotho in Maseru.
“I want to thank Lesotho people for their hospitality. We know it will be difficult to play here [Maseru]. Lesotho gave us a lot of troubles,” Rohr told a post-match news conference.
“We are happy with the win. It put us in a good position to qualify for the competition.”
With six points and six goals, the Super Eagles have started this race well and strong. Home matches against Lesotho and Sierra Leone will be completed by trips to Sierra Leone and Benin Republic in the final phase of the qualifying series next year.
