James Kwesi Apphia’s contract with Ghana has a month before expiring and the coach has said it is not something he has on his mind.
Appiah’s last 16 exit out of AFCON 2019 was followed by a six-month extension - and this was a period that would have to AFCON 2021 qualification games that has seen him make it two wins out of two.
Now with the December expiry date looming very closely, calls for a further extension have been made - especially have the past two weeks’ wins over South Africa and Sao Tome & Principe.
“The most important thing is being on contract until the end of December,” Appiah told Joy Sports.
“I want to make sure I do the best that I can. As to whether I would love to continue or the management would like me to continue, I think that will be decided after,” Appiah added.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s next AFCON 2021 qualifier is going next August against Sudan - with former Asante Kotoko coach CK Akonnor being the recently appointed Black Stars assistant coach.
