Bandari 2-2 AFC Leopards: Mwalala's men come from behind twice to secure a point

Bandari FC came from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw with AFC Leopards in a Kenyan Premier League match staged at Mbaraki Sports Club on Thursday 21st. 

Bandari found themselves trailing in the first six minutes of play as Jaffari Owiti put AFC Leopards ahead with a cool finish. The Mombasa based side leveled the scores through Sosthenes Idah but Ingwe immediately restored their lead within 30 seconds through Vincent Oburu

Another set-piece from a freekick saw Leopards concede thanks to Cliff Kasuti's simple tap in. Despite both sides creating a host of chances in the second half, none who managed to grab a goal as the match ended in 2-2 draw. 

Bandari were coming from a 1-0 defeat in the hands of Ulinzi while AFC Leopards were handed one of their heavy defeats in the Mashemeji Derby following a 4-1 loss to Gor Mahia. 

Leopards took the lead in the 6th minute through Jaffari Owiti. Bandari couldn't clear the ball and it landed to Mudenyu Robert who produced a searching pass to Owiti on the left. He entered the box and unleashed a shot that beat Mustapha Oduor on his right. 

Bandari leveled the scores in the 13th minute through Sosthenes Idah. A corner was awarded on the left side and William Wadri delivered a beautiful corner with Leopards defence failing to deal with it. The ball met Idah whose bicycle kick attempt kissed the back of the net. 

A loss of concentration saw Bandari concede in a span of less than a minute after their equalizer. Leopards produced a quick attack and the ball from the left was delivered into the box and a huge mistake from Bandari defence handed Oburu the ball. The forward took a touch, went past one defender before beating Mustapha with the ball passing in between his legs. 

In the 35th minute, Hassan Abdallah was fouled outside the box and referee awarded a freekick. William Wadri stepped up to take it and his effort was parred by Benjamin Ochan, who remained grounded. Cliff Kasuti made a quick run and tapped the ball in to level the scores. 


Leopards are currently 8th on the log with 16 points, four points ahead of 12th placed Bandari.

Bandari will host league leaders Gor Mahia at Mbaraki Sports Club on Sunday 24th while Leopards will play hosts to Kisumu All Stars.
