Harambee Starlets head coach nominated for top CAF Award

Harambee Starlets head coach David Ouma has been nominated for CAF’s Women Coach of the Year Award.

Ouma who has been instrumental in Starlets success in recent years, will battle it out with Zambia’s Bruce Mwape, Nigeria’s Thomas Dennerby, South Africa’s Desiree Ellis, Ivory Coast’s Clemetine Toure and Cameroon’s Alan Djeumfa.

The former Sofapaka FC coach led Starlets to their first Africa Women Cup of Nations in 2016 and almost repeated the same feat in 2018 only for her team to be ousted out after CAF reinstated Equatorial Guinea in the competition.

In 2019 the team missed the 2020 Olympic in the fourth round after being ousted by Zambia but they have taken the East Africa region by storm by making it to the final of the 2019 CECAFA Women where they will be up against Tanzania.

Apart from Ouma, Harambee Starlets have been nominated in the Women’s National Team of the Year together with Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia.
