Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained his reason to name 14 teenagers in his 18-man squad to take on Astana in the UEFA Europa League.
Solskjaer went ahead to confirm that Dishon Bernard and Dylan Levitt, both 19, and Ethan Laird, 18, will line up in an XI largely made up of academy graduates with third-choice goalkeeper Lee Grant also making his first United start.
Laird is likely to start at right-back, Bernard could partner Axel Tuanzebe in central defense and Levitt could partner James Garner in midfield.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of the clash, Solskjaer explained his squad selection, "We've done great to qualify after four games, so it gives us an opportunity to give game-time to the experienced lads who need it; Axel, Luke and Jesse have not had too many games and are coming back from injuries.
"It's a great chance for me to give Lee his first start for the club. It's hard to give kids games against men, professional games, we've got the EFL Trophy and this is a great chance for me to see them all together."
The clash is slated for a 6:50 PM (EAT) kick-off at the Astana Arena.
