Unai Emery on why he did not bring on Lacazette and Pepe in Eintracht Frankfurt defeat

Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe were unused subs in the 1-2 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt with Unai Emery revealing that injuries to other players prevented him from bringing them on.

Arsenal missed out on an opportunity to seal progression to the knockout phases of the UEFA Europa League with the defeat to Frankfurt.

With Arsenal chasing an equalizer many expected Emery to throw in either Nicolas Pepe or Alexandre Lacazette but injuries to David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi prevented him to do so.

Speaking in a press conference after the game, Emery was asked why he did not bring on Lacazette and Pepe, "We had some injuries.

"We needed to change David Luiz and then we had a problem with Mustafi. Two injuries meant we had to make those changes."

Luiz who was playing as a defensive midfielder hobbled off after 31 minutes while Arsenal’s third and final sub saw Lucas Torreira replace Mustafi.
