Chelsea bounced back to winning ways after securing a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard made five changes to his squad after the side suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Ham United at the weekend and one of those changes included forward Tammy Abraham who was cleared to play after he had been ruled out with a hip injury.
Former Blues ace John Terry was also welcomed back to Stamford Bridge and he was well received by the fans despite being the assistant manager to the opposition Aston Villa manager Dean Smith.
Both teams didn't have the best start to the game and the ball was scattered in every direction however Willian had the best chance. Christian Pulisic made a solid pass to the Brazil international but it wasn't meant to be as Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton cleared the shot.
Chelsea continued to increase the pace and the attack was solid and their efforts eventually paid off through Reece James making the assist to Abraham who opened the scoreline for Chelsea effortlessly.
Villa followed suit with their efforts and Egypt international Ahmed Elmohamady was on the ball and passed it on to Trezeguet who responded well and scored the equaliser before the halftime break.
Trezeguet's goal definitely put a damper on Chelsea but it wasn't to last long as Mason Mount scored the host's second goal three minutes into the second half and the Blues were on the lead once again.
Chelsea kept on pushing and hoping to score a third or maybe a fourth but Villa's keeper Heaton was well aware in the box and responded well to blocking the host's chances.
Willian attempted to score the third goal that would have elevated the hosts even more but his 25-yard free-kick was denied by Heaton.
Abraham who scored Chelsea's first goal was replaced by Michy Batshuayi after he appeared to have knee problems as he came off the pitch - however, the buzzing striker made quite a comeback from injury and it was a pleasing sight to the fans.
Chelsea managed to secure their first victory from four games and that should be a confidence boost for the Blues as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
