John Terry sends a message to Mateo Kovacic after crushing his hand

Aston Villa assistant manager John Terry has apologized to Mateo Kovacic after crushing his hand following a handshake after the 1-2 loss to Chelsea.

Terry returned to the Stamford Bridge with Aston Villa but suffered defeat with Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham scoring for Chelsea while Villa's goal came courtesy of Mohamed Trezeguet Hassan.

After the full-time whistle, Kovacic went to shake Terry's hand but the former Chelsea skipper left a mark on the Croatian as he pressed his hand tightly.

Kovacic grimaced as he grabbed hands with Terry, shaking his hand in pain as he walked down the tunnel, while Terry held out his hand as an apology as he walked off.

Chelsea uploaded the video on Instagram and tagged their former skipper accompanied by the caption, "Easy on the handshake, John!"

Terry replied with both a laughing face emoji and flexing arm emoji, as well as tagging Kovacic and writing, "Sorry mate".
