Lionel Messi added another record to his ever-growing list on Saturday night as he netted his 35th Laliga hattrick to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo's record.
Barcelona's number 10 was at his impressive best as he helped his side to a 5-2 win to steer clear of the Portuguese, who had 34 prior to the match.
The former Manchester United man will, however, be pleased to know he achieved the fete in 288 games, while the Argentine needed 462 matches to set the new record.
The hattrick was Messi's 53 in all competitions, coming in a week that he won his sixth Ballon d'Or title in France.
The hattrick also means he is the division's top scorer on 12 goals after overtaking Real Madrid's Karim Benzema, despite missing the opening six matches due to an injury.
In addition to the above record, the Argentine became the only player to have scored at least 10 goals in each of the last 14 seasons in the top five European leagues.
