Lazio 3-1 Juventus: Sarri tastes first Serie A defeat at Stadio Olimpico

Mauricio Sarri tasted his first Serie A defeat at the helm of Italian giants Juventus, as Lazio came from behind to record a 3-1 win on Saturday night.

The Old Lady of Turin were reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes to go when Juan Cuadrado was shown a red card, and the hosts took full advantage to score twice and pick maximum points.

Cristiano Ronaldo had given the visitors the lead in the first half following a near-post tap-in, but Luiz Felipe equalized in added time of the first half.

Sergej Milinkovic then scored a second for the hosts on the 74th minute, five minutes after Cuadrado had been given his marching orders, before Felipe Caicedo's powerful striker in the 95th minute.

The scoreline could have been bigger, but Wojciech Szczesny beautifully saved Ciro Immobile's penalty to spare the defending champions' blushes.

The loss saw Juventus lose ground on league leaders Inter Milan, who lead on 38 points despite drawing 0-0 against Roma on Friday night.

Lazio's win saw them move to within three points of Juventus, who are on 36 points after 15 rounds of matches.

Fans are already airing their displeasure in the way Juventus is playing with many accusing Sarri of being more defensive.

Juventus seem to be regressing under Sarri, and figures from last season seem to suggest so.

The club, then under Massimo Allegri, had scored 30 goals and conceded 9 after 15 matches, while they have scored 26 and conceded 15 after a similar number of matches this campaign under the former Chelsea manager.
