Following his brace in the 4-0 win over AZ Alkmaar, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has compared Mason Greenwood to Wayne Rooney.
The 18-year-old hit his first senior brace for United to take his season tally to six goals in his first full campaign at Old Trafford.
Greenwood was starting in just his seventh game of the campaign against Alkmaar and has five goals in his six cup starts with the other goal coming in the league.
Speaking in a press conference after the game, Solskjaer heaped praise on Greenwood, "I've probably said it all before.
"Nothing new, that's just what he does, and tomorrow he'll probably go into training and score a few more, he's always done it, it's natural for him.
"He's a natural footballer and the closer he gets to goal the more dangerous he is. Right foot, left foot, a nightmare for defenders, he just needs to develop his heading! Then he'll be a proper striker.
"I've seen a few good ones [at Greenwood's age]. I played with Wazza [Rooney], myself. Natural finishing, he's one of the best I've seen, yeah.
"There was never any question on him going on loan, that decision was made towards end of last season."
