Frank Lampard feels his team lacked their needed urgency in their play in their shock 1-0 home defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday evening.
The Blues were undone by Dan Gosling's 85th-minute goal that was awarded after a VAR check, to end their five-match losing streak.
In doing so, they served the hosts their fourth defeat in five matches in the Premier League, following losses to Manchester City, West Ham and most recent, Everton.
Lampard was quick to defend his young team but pointed out their frailties that have often popped up whenever they play an organized side.
"Urgency in our play. If you’re transferring the ball then transfer it quickly from side to side. If you’re playing through the lines because that’s the kind of player you then get it through the lines,"
"If you’re an attacking player, get at people, do things that are positive and don’t play safe. We played generally too safe throughout the game,"
The manager further highlighted their home form, where they have lost thrice and drawn twice compared to their away form.
"In front of our home fans, it’s clear now that we’re not playing well enough and not getting enough results. Up until now, a lot of it was not taking enough chances because we’d been creating a lot and giving away some silly goals,"
Their attention will now shift to their next assignment, a London derby against Jose Mourinho's Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
