Fifth start for Kenyan defender as Barnsley fall to Derby County

Kenyan defender Clarke Oduor made his fifth consecutive start for English Championship side Barnsley as they lost 2-1 to Derby County on Thursday, January 2.

The 20-year-old joined Barnsley at the start of the 2019-2020 season from Leeds United, penning a four-year contract with the South Yorkshire side.

Oduor was one of just 16 players named in Marcelo Bielsa's first-team squad for Leeds' 2019-20 pre-season tour of Australia for matches against Manchester United and West Sydney Wanderers after coming through the youth ranks.

The left-back had to wait till December to make his Barnsley debut as he came on as a 93rd-minute substitute in the 3-2 defeat to Cardiff City.

Since making a start in the 5-3 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, December 14, Oduor has started every game against Milwall, West Bromwich Albion, Swansea and most recently Derby.

Odour is a versatile player who can operate anywhere in the left flank but has been mostly utilized as a left-back.

He is yet to receive a Harambee Stars call up but if his form is anything to go by, its only a matter of time before he gets a Kenya call up.
