Promising central midfielder Boubakary Soumare has been linked with a move from Ligue 1 side Lille to a number of European clubs.
The 20-year-old has attracted interests from several clubs amongst them giants Manchester United, Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho's Tottenham.
Lille head coach Christophe Galtier is resigned to losing the youngster in this January transfer period and it is understood that Lille is holding out for the correct price to let go.
So who is Boubakary Soumare?
The youngster was born 27 February 1999 in France and is of Senegalese descent. He is a youth international for France at various levels. He also qualifies to play for Senegal.
The box-to-box midfielder has drawn comparison to Paul Pogba due to his physical, but with a real sense of technical ability. Soumaré came through the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain Academy from 2011-2017 before moving to Lille OSC in search of first-team football. He made his senior debut for Lille in a 3–0 Ligue 1 win over FC Metz on 5 November 2017.
He has turned out 25 times in the first half of the season for Lille as well playing in all their six Champions League matches.
Lille could be forced to cash in on the young talent as they face growing scrutiny from French authorities over the state of their finances. They have been banned from signing for two transfer periods over concerns that they are spending above their budget.
Lille have priced Soumare in the region of £51 million which if they find a buyer, he could be Lille's second-highest sale after Nicholas Pepe who joined Arsenal for around £67.5 million.
