FIFA ban falls on the door of Kenyan Premier League

World football governing body FIFA has handed a life ban to former Muhoroni Youth, Tusker FC and Kakamega Homeboyz attacking midfielder George Mandela.

The body revealed that Mandela and the three of Moses Chikati, Festus Okiring, and Festo Omukoto were involved in match-fixing during their time at Kakamega Homeboyz; a rumor that had been lodged by their chairman Mr. Shimanyula previously.

Shimanyula in action sent the players packing and even sacked his coach Paul Nkata on the same allegations.

His words seem to have been true as FIFA finally handing the trio of Chikati, Okiring, and Omukoto a four-year ban to compliment the life ban on Mandela.

A statement on FIFA’s website noted: "The formal disciplinary proceedings against the aforementioned individuals stemmed from an investigation into various matches from the Kenyan Premier League in 2019.”

There have been allegations of match-fixing in the past with Wazito FC owner Ricardo Badoer claiming via social media that he has been informed by a person not known to him that his players had been fixing games.

Omukoto left Homeboyz for Stima in the just concluded window with Okiring said to have joined the military.
