CAF Confederation Cup: Why Egypt's Al Masry wants to play both their legs against RS Berkane in Morocoo

Egyptian club Al Masry on Thursday requested CAF to allow them to play both their CAF Confederation Cup matches against RS Berkane in Morocco.

According to a tweet by a Nigerian footballer Nuhu Adams, the Egyptian club cited insecurity and limited attendance as a reason to move their leg of the encounter to Morocco.

Al Masry is based in Port Said on the restive coast of Suez Canal but plays their continental matches in a restricted Alexandria stadium, 300 km away. The restrictions on attendance and the ban on their home stadium was slapped on Al Masry for safety and security reasons.

Port Said was banned by Egypt FA in 2012 after a riot killed over 74 people when Al Masry fans attacked their Al Ahly counterparts. The riots were blamed on political tensions and Egypt Premier league was suspended for two years while Al Masry was banned for four years.
