Norwich City 0-1 Liverpool: Substitute Sadio Mane gives the Reds a hard-fought victory

Senegal international Sadio Mane started the game off the bench and came on to score a cracker that gave Liverpool a narrow 1-0 win over hosts Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday night.

Finnish striker Teemu Pukki had a solid chance in the first half following Kenny McLean's ball, however, it wasn't meant to be as Alisson Becker denied the Canaries their opening goal.

Liverpool were given a run for their money by the hosts who pilled out all stops in their defence but the Reds proved to still have their quality coming into the second half of the fixture.

Goalkeeper Tim Krul was forced to make two dangerous saves from Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita's strikes that could have turned Carrow Road upside down.

Norwich were quick to respond following Alexander Tettey's shot that hit wide over the post and that surely woke the visitors up.

Liverpool's hard work eventually paid off as captain Jordan Henderson struck a powerful long ball that found Mane's feet and he was quick to send it home to give the Reds a lead in the 78 minute - the substitution surely paid off.

Roberto Firmino should have scored a late second goal for his side before Pukki sent his ball straight into Alisson's gloves.

Despite being given hard work by the Premier League strugglers, Liverpool have now gone 25 points clear of Manchester City and at this rate, they are going; the Anfield outfit is five games away from lifting its first trophy.
