English Premier League side Arsenal is considering making a move for Dutch utility man Daley Blind in the summer.
Reports from the Netherlands indicate that the Mikel Arteta men are attracted by the fact that the player has a low buyout clause in his contract with Ajax.
According to David Ornstein while writing for The Athletic, there are a number of teams who are interested in Blind in the summer with Arsenal looking for left-sided centre-backs.
The Gunners signed Pablo Mari in January on an initial loan deal and it is believed they’ll activate their option to make it permanent in the summer but they are eyeing Blind should they decide against making the Mari deal permanent.
Blind-formerly with Manchester United- returned to the pitch with Ajax this week after heart surgery and featured when they lost to Getafe in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
The player is said to have been close to joining Arsenal as a youngster as he visited the club’s facilities, and they offered him a contract but he decided to stay with Ajax to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Apart from slotting in defence, Blind has the ability to play on the left or in midfield and is one of the most revered players in the Dutch national team.
