Ulinzi Stars 3-2 Kisumu All Stars: Soldiers hold off stubborn All Stars in Nakuru

Masita Masuta was the hero as his goal gave Ulinzi Stars a 3-2 win over Kisumu All Stars in a KenuanPremier League match played at Afraha Stadium on Sunday.

Daniel Waweru opened the scoring in the sixth minute as the hosts stamped their authority early on in the match. Former AFC Leopards midfielder Boniface Ongoma poked home the second in 27yh minute after All-Stars failed to deal with a John Njuguna cross.

The hosts were in control of the game as the Kisumu-based side resorted to some tough tackles that had Brian Birgen and John Kago requiring medical attention.

All-Stars failed to trouble Jackson Saruni in Ulinzi Stars posts as the two teams headed back to the sheds with the hosts two goals up. 

All-Stars came out of the break a recharged side and were soon awarded a penalty after Bonaventure Muchika was adjudged to have a committed a foul in the danger zone. Gershom Arabe stepped and sent Saruni the wrong way to half the deficit.

Killer punch

The visitors were soon on level terms after John Owira tapped in after defensive mix up by the Soldiers rearguard. The two teams then started searching for the killer punch to wrap up the three points,

Masuta popped up in the 70th minute to head home a Harun Mwale cross and the Soldiers tightened their defence and ensured that the three points stay at home. 

Ulinzi Stars return to fifth position with 39 points, two more than AFC Leopards who beat Sofapaka2-1 on Saturday. All-Stars remain winless in the last five matches and prop the table with eight points.
