Basement club Proline on Tuesday notched a crucial 2-1 victory over fellow strugglers Tooro United to boost their chances of staying in the Uganda Premier League.
Playmaker Bright Anukani was the hero of the day as he bagged a brace at the match played at Lugogo Stadium in Kampala. Mike Kawooya's lone goal was just but a consolation for Tooro who now have lost 14 matches this season.
The win improves Proline's point tally to 21, just a point below Tooro and Tooro and three points shy of safety.
In another league match played on Tuesday, URA notched their second win on the trot with a 2-1 away to Express at Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
Mikidadi Ssenyonga and second-half substitute Anwar Ntege scored in either half for Sam Ssimbwa’s side. Frank Kalanda found the consolation for Express FC in the closing 20 minutes of the game.
URA remain fourth but improve their points tally to 40 same as third-placed SC Villa. Express remain rooted in 11th position.
In Jinja, Busoga United continued their fine run with a narrow 1-0 victory over visiting Wakiso Giants. They now climb to fifth with 39 points.
