There are only four points between the first and the second team in the Kenyan Premier League and with twelve games remaining, this promises to be one of the tightest title races we will witness in recent seasons.
There are the leading pack and the pack that is doing their all to escape relegation. Others are happy to participate with other teams happy with their progress.
But how do we think the games this weekend will go?
Chemelil Sugar FC v AFC Leopards
Chemelil must be harbouring some resurrection dreams but that was put into some reality check last week against Homeboyz. Shipping six goals can be demoralizing and coming up against one of the most inform teams in the division won't do them any favours.
Leopards know well that these are the kind of games they need to win to keep up with the leading pack and there is no reason why they shouldn't win this.
Verdict: AFC Leopards Win
Gor Mahia v Western Stima
Stima can be troublesome as they proved two weeks ago against Gor Mahia. The draw was a deserved result considering how both teams played. Gor too hasn't been at their best this season as proved against Zoo last week but the talent at their disposal would pull them through games.
This is a revenge tie as seen as some of their fans and Stima should be very awake if they are to replicate the first leg outing.
Verdict: Gor Mahia Win
Kisumu All-Stars v Tusker FC
The draw last week against Wazito had dented Robert Matano's surge at the top of the log and they can't avoid dropping points if they are to wrestle the title from Gor Mahia. This is a tie against one of the most out of form teams in the league. They will be away from home but that shouldn't be a problem. Win and keep the pressure on Gor; that's all they want as at now.
Verdict: Tusker FC Win
Sofapaka FC v Ulinzi Stars
Inconsistency is the word that should be used to describe the two sides. One day they are holding teams like Gor Mahia, the next day they are struggling against Nzoia Sugar FC. The winner of this game is likely to pile some pressure on the leading pack if they can maintain some consistency. No one can outrightly say they are going to win this game but recent outings point out to teams who can score at will. We should expect goals.
Verdict: Over 2.5 Goals
Posta Rangers v Mathare United
Rangers have lost their last two games against Chemelil and a less fancied Chemelil. Losing the third game would be detrimental for Sammy Omollo and team and with that knowledge they will be doing all they can to avoid defeat. An early goal could be it for them but they are up against a team who have goals in their side. A draw is written all over the tie due to Mathare's inability to lockout games in recent outings.
K.K Homeboyz v Nzoia Sugar FC
This is a derby of a sort and form won't count in this. If the form is anything to go by, Homeboyz should carry the day but that's just a paper thing. Its true Nzoia are struggling but they held Ulinzi Stars in their last outing; a result that gives them confidence heading into this tie. But draws are draws. and Ulinzi is Ulinzi. Kakamega should walk away with the points.
Verdict: Homeboyz Win
KCB v Bandari FC
Bandari's last away win came in December and despite winning their last two games-one against KCB-one would know that this is another tough test for the Coastal side. The bankers are not only out for revenge but have a striker in their ranks who is looking for the golden boot. In Agwanda, Bandari's are well aware that they will need to be at their best to stop 'The Bull'.
Verdict: KCB Win
