Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen to bolster his attacking option this summer and has identified Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho joined Barcelona in 2018 but failed to nail a starting role at the Nou Camp and ended up signing for Bayern Munich on loan until the end of the current season. The Brazilian has been linked with a Premier League return with Chelsea termed as a possible destination for the playmaker. However, Blues legend Frank Leboeuf claims his former side should not sign Coutinho as he believes he would not even get in Lampard's side.
"I don’t think so. Coutinho has been good with Liverpool, so far poor with Barcelona and Bayern Munich," Leboeuf told ESPN when asked if he could see Coutinho signing for Chelsea.
"I would have lots of question marks seeing him coming to Chelsea, to bring what? We have young players, very talented, who are very promising. We have good midfield players with [Mateo] Kovacic and Jorginho, to organize the game.
"I don’t know where his place would be. If I was the chairman, if I was the coach, I would be very hesitant to pick him up."
The 27-year-old has netted nine goals and eight assists in 32 appearances for Bayern Munich this campaign.
