The Covid-19 outbreak has forced the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to ban all training sessions at any club around the nation.

While the government and FAZ had announced the suspension of the Zambia Super League and all football activities a fortnight ago, it is believed that certain clubs have been holding private practise sessions.

“Following measures announced by Republican President His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu around the response to the covid-19 threat the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) wishes to advise clubs to ensure that they take steps to help towards combating the pandemic,” said acting FAZ spokesperson Sydney Mungala.

“FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala has advised clubs to suspend training activities or take preventive measures where they prescribe individualized sessions.

“Kashala says the social distancing measure prohibits regular training for clubs and expects that members will adhere to the directive.

The message included suggestions for players and all professional athletes to turn to using digital tools communication for home-based training.

“Meantime players are encouraged to embrace technological tools in engaging in training at individual level and ensure that they keep fit.

“The Football Association of Zambia will advise the members once the situation allows for resumption of normal business,” concluded Mungala.
