Manchester United winger Anthony Martial has been warned by Rio Ferdinand that he faces a fight to keep his spot next season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho this summer and Ferdinard believes the coach's plans on revamping attack will bring competition upfront. Martial has been impressive since his return from injury and has netted 16 goals in 34 appearances for the Red Devils.
"Big clubs you’ve got to fight, that’s it. That’s all it boils down to," he responded when asked if Martial will lose his spot.
"Can you fight for your position? That’s it. You’ve got to accept there’s going to be an opportunity for someone else to come in and play. But then your performances have got to outweigh everything. You’ve got to make sure the manager knows."
Should United make Odion Ighalo's move permanent, Martial will face competition from the Nigerian as well as Marcus Rashford who has been on the sidelines due to injury.
