Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender Ashley Cole was recently attacked by armed robbers, who stole jewellery and other valuables.
The attack happened at his mansion in Surrey, leaving the former England international shaken.
The attackers, who were masked, are said to have gained entry into the building through the rear doors, even though it was not clear whether Cole or his girlfriend were present during the raid that happened on January 21st.
“It was a terrifying experience," a source said of the incident.
“The robbers sounded very professional and knew exactly what they were doing.
“They must have deliberately targeted Ashley and cased the place in advance,"
This is not the first time such an incident is happening, following a similar case in 2010 when unidentified people tried to break into the mansion.
Cole currently works with the Chelsea youth team, having retired at the end of last season at Derby County.
He enjoyed a stellar career at Arsenal and Chelsea, before leaving the Premier League for Serie A with AS Roma.
He has also featured for Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy in an illustrious career.
