Bandari FC midfielder Mohammed Katana Agege has joined a Belarusian top-flight side FC Smolevichi for an undisclosed period.
Confirming the news to Futaa was the club’s Team Manager who said the player has been in a series of trials in the country for the past one month and were happy that he was able to finally secure a deal.
“It is true that he has signed a deal. He has been in Belarus for the past one month or so and as a club, we are happy for him because he is a talented player and we wish him the best of luck in his new station,” Oburu told Futaa.
Katana joined the Bandari earlier in the season when they were still under the tutelage of coach Bernard Mwalala and even scored in his debut against Zoo FC in September 2019.
The move came after the forward had trials with a series of clubs in Europe after some good outing with the Aspire Academy.
Founded in 2009, FC Smolevichi joined the Belarusian Second League in 2010 and won promotion to the country’s top tier in 2012. They have been in playing in the division since 2013 and reached an agreement with BATE Borisov to be their feeder club in 2016 with the deal only lasting for one season.
They play their home games in the 1000 capacity Stadyen FLC Oktyabrsky Stadium. Before the league was put on a halt by the coronavirus, they were placed 12th on the league with one point after two games.
