On this day in 2016: Conte becomes Chelsea boss

On April 4 2016, Chelsea announced that Italian Antonio Conte would be their next boss on a three-year contract.

The current Inter Milan manager stayed with the Blues for two of his three years and he left in 2018, after winning the club it's fifth Premier League title.

Here's a look at his time with Chelsea, in numbers:

  • 741 – Days in charge after replacing Guus Hiddink on July 3, 2016.
  • 6 – Chelsea were the sixth club managed by the Italian after spells at Arezzo, Bari, Atalanta, Siena, and Juventus. He also managed Italy prior to Chelsea.
  • 30 – The 2016-17 season's total of 30 wins set a new Premier League record since broken by Manchester City.
  • 58m – The amount in pounds Chelsea paid Real Madrid for striker Alvaro Morata, making him the most expensive signing in Chelsea's history. He is now at Atletico Madrid.

Was his time in London a fail or did he do fairly well?
