Victor Wanyama urges FKF to settle Amrouche's debt

Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama has urged the Football Kenya Federation to settle Adel Amrouche’s debt as quickly as they can.

The federation owes the Algerian for wrongful dismissal following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last October with FIFA Having given them more time until May to look for the money.

Speaking to the BBC, Wanyama feels a ban from the World Cup would not only be detrimental for the Kenyan soccer but for the footballers who would want to showcase their abilities in the world stage.

"It is a shame that something like that can cost a lot of players the opportunity to participate on the world stage. I want to urge the FKF to please find a way to settle the matter quickly so that we can continue with our dream to be on the world stage," Wanyama said.

In their 202 World Cup journey, Kenya is drawn in the same group as Mali, neighbours Uganda and Rwanda and according to Wanyama the team couldn’t have prayed for better opposition in their bid to make it to their first world cup.

"I think we have a chance by playing the qualifiers. But it is true we could be banned by FIFA because of money they owed our former coach," Wanyama opined.

Wanyama who led the team to the 2019 AFCON is currently plying his trade in the MLS for Montreal Impact after leaving Spurs earlier in the year.
