Egyptian Football Association (EFA) says that they do not plan on cancelling the league due to sponsorships and economic matters.
This was confirmed by EFA's Mohamed Fadl who said that they are preparing for the possibility of a league resumption at the earliest opportunity.
“We do not have any intention to cancel the league this season, but health comes first,” Fadl told ON Time Sports.
“We have a plan to resume the league when football returns. The plan is ready with the names of stadiums, hotels, and hospitals lined up. We are only waiting for the green light from the authorities to proceed.”
Football activities in Egypt have been halted since March as the number of COVID-19 cases in Egypt continues to rise, reaching more than 4,000 cases.
Fadl also went on to discuss the EFA’s plans if they were to cancel the Egyptian Premier League this season.
“In the event of cancelling the league during the middle of the season, there will be no champion,” he added.
