Nairobi City Stars striker Ezekiel Odera has revealed that the most heartbreaking moment in his football career came when he was in the books of AFC Leopards.
The player had signed for Leopards in 2018 and despite being the club’s top scorer then with ten goals, he was to be transferred to KCB on a loan deal in what was his fourth stint with the bankers.
The move as it seemed didn’t please the player and in an interview the club’s website team, it was a heartbreaking move for him.
Asked about his sad moment in football, Odera said: “Has to be when the AFC Leopards management sent me on loan to KCB FC in 2019 for reasons unknown to me yet I was the club’s top goal scorer. It was heartbreaking for me as a player.
The player who didn’t feature in the national team when asked if he still harboured those dreams of representing the country, Odera said he had retired from national team football.
“It is every player dream to play for the national team. I’m happy I had the chance to get a call up to the game against Uganda in 2010 as well as to the Nile Basin squad of early 2011. For now, I have retired from the national football,” Odera added.
Odera has been one of the established names in the City Stars team who have dominated the National Super League this season.
