The top-scoring teenagers in Champions League history

The UEFA Champions League, European soccer's grandest stage.  

It is where the best of the best battle and also, the stage future stars and champions are born. 

Young players, teenagers, have in the past shone among the best on this stage and went on to achieve great success. 

Some however never lived to expectations, fizzling out as their careers took unexpected twists and turns.

Erling Haaland is the latest teenager to burst onto the European stage and has a massive 10 goals to his name so far, following in the steps of Kylian Mbappe. 

Where do the two rank among the highest-scoring teenagers in the competition, and, can they go on to become world-beaters and leave legacies in the Champions League history?

Patrick Kluivert and Raul enjoyed stellar careers and won the competition with Ajax and Real Madrid respectively, with the Spaniard in particular setting records on his way up. 

Karim Benzema has also enjoyed immense success at Real Madrid and aside from being one of the top strikers currently, he has four crowns Champions League crowns to his name.

The same cannot be said of Aigebeni and Krkic though. 

Krkic fizzled out at Barcelona and was shipped out on loan to a number of clubs including AC Milan and Ajax before another stint at Stoke City.  He is currently at Montreal Impact.

Yakubu on the other hand was a real journeyman. His Champions League story was short. He moved from Maccabi Haifa, where he scored the five goals, to England, featuring for the likes of Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton and Leicester City, a time in which he never played in the competition again.
