AC Leopards coach, Luc Eymael, has suggested that Justin Shonga’s rumoured move to the Tanzania Premier League has fallen through.
According to Eyamael, the out-of-favour Shonga is willing to leave Pirates for $15 000 (260 000 kwacha).
“I have been interested in Justin Shonga but he is too expensive for Tanzania. I hear about Simba (reportedly interested in him also), but he is too expensive. He is asking for $15 000 (+/-R260 000) and that’s too expensive. Nobody is getting a monthly salary of $15 000 in Tanzania,” Eymael told the Soccer Laduma.
“Nobody is earning that amount of money in Tanzania. I don’t know about the coach of Simba but I don’t earn that much here. I am not talking about gross, I am talking about the net. I mean, not many teams even in South Africa pay like that and it’s only the big teams,” added the former Polokwane City, Free State Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic and Black Leopards coach.
The outspoken coach added to say that Shonga’s financial wishes would be met if he would move to places like Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns or SuperSport United.
“You can go to Polokwane (City), you can go to Bloemfontein Celtic and you can go to Black Leopards, Baroka, Golden Arrows, AmaZulu, Ajax (Cape Town) and Cape Town City, nobody is paying like that in South Africa. You can earn that money at Pirates, (Kaizer) Chiefs, (Mamelodi) Sundowns and SuperSport (United),” concluded the Belgian coach.
