Sergio Ramos scored a superb free-kick as Real Madrid went top of Laliga with a 2-0 win over Mallorca at in a league match staged at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano on Wednesday.
Mallorca who were proving to be a hard nut to crack was to go behind in the 19th minute through a Vinicius Junior superb effort with Ramos confirming the points eleven minutes after the resumption with a sumptuous free-kick.
The win sees Madrid perch at the top of the table with 68 points; the same number of points as FC Barcelona who beat Athletic Club Bilbao by a solitary goal on Tuesday.
In the other matches of the day, Real Sociedad aim of making it to the Champions League next season was once again dented after going down by a solitary goal again Celta Vigo.
Celta solo goal was scored by former Liverpool attacker Iago Aspas from the penalty spot minutes to the half time break.
The loss means that Sociedad remains seventh on the Laliga standings with 47 points with Celta increasing their chances of not getting relegated with the win pushing them to 16th on the log with 33 points.
In the other game, Osasuna had Toni Lato to thank as his 64th-minute strike proved to be the difference in their visit to Alavez
